ARCHIVES MALANGA has been providing
photographs to the publishing world for twenty-five years. It contains
one of the largest collections of photo-portraits of literary figures.
The strength of this archive is primarily in the uniqueness of the
image as well as the ephemeral shot. Many of these photos have never
been published.
A large number of the candid
and
formal portraits are internationally known images, such as Mick Jagger,
William Burroughs and Iggy Pop.
Specialties range from Andy
Warhol,
the Velvet Underground, Edie Sedgwick, and Robert Mapplethorpe to the
1939 New York World's Fair, with a bit of erotica thrown in.
In addition, the archive
holds film
footage of Jane Fonda and Roger Vadim, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Bob
Dylan, Donovan, Virgil Thomson, Benedetta Barzini, and Jack Smith.
Movie-stills exist from this footage as well.
Extensive collections exist
of Keith
Richards, Patti Smith, John Ashbery, Nico, Rene Ricard, and Allen
Ginsberg and the Beats. New additions include Laszlo Moholy-Nagy,
Richard Wright, and Robert Moses. Historical imagery consists of
Berkshire scenics, New York cityscapes, the Third Avenue El, and a vast
postcard collection of 20th-century oceanliners.
ARCHIVES MALANGA is
dedicated to the
task of providing biographers, photo editors, and art directors with
fast, efficient service.
